BHIM (Bharat Interface for Money) is a free mobile finance application designed exclusively for residents of India. Developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI), this app aims to facilitate cashless transactions and promote the use of e-payments in the Indian market.

While BHIM is heavily based on the Unified Payments Interface (UPI), it also allows transactions from non-UPI accounts. It is important to note that BHIM is not operated by the government or any public sector unit or agency. Instead, it is privately owned by the NPCI, which is a private institution run by banks. However, it is government-funded and included in the country's Union Budget.

To encourage more people to download the app and engage in cashless transactions, BHIM offers a referral scheme. Users can earn rewards by referring others to download the app and complete a minimum of three unique successful financial transactions. Both the referrer and the newly referred user will receive rewards.

Prior to registering on BHIM, users must ensure that their bank account is linked to an active mobile number. If they have a valid debit card, it will be required to generate a UPI PIN. The daily transaction limit varies depending on the user's account settings in BHIM. It is important to note that users will never be asked for their bank account or card's PIN to receive money. The UPI PIN is used for payments and balance checks.
